We are aware that financial terms can sometimes be confusing. So we have developed some frequently asked questions to assist you in better understanding the Sagicor Digicel prepaid MasterCard. Please feel free to contact us if there are any further clarifications needed.

Feature and Benefits of the Card

MyCash is a Sagicor Prepaid Mastercard linked to a Mobile Wallet application provided between Sagicor, Prism (a wholly owned subsidiary of Digicel Group of companies) and Mastercard.

  • MyCash can be used anywhere in the world that accepts Mastercard
  • Includes a mobile wallet application that gives you control of your money
  • t’s a prepaid card so there is no danger of overspending (because you can only spend the funds loaded to the card)
  • You can send and receive money to and from other MyCash users
  • Withdraw your money from ATMs worldwide bearing the Cirrus mark
  • You can use your card for online shopping, bill payments or everyday purchases

Once you download the app and use it to sign up for MyCash, you are able to:

  • Manage your money through the app
  • Send and receive money to and from other MyCash users
  • Initiate a cash withdrawal
  • Check your balance
  • View your transactions
  • Activate or deactivate your card
  • Change your card PIN
  • Refer friends to the application

Sign up

You can only sign up using the MyCash App on your smartphone or tablet. The app can be downloaded via the Apple App store or Google Play store.

The information or documents needed are based on the type of account you want. At a minimum, your name; date of birth; gender; country of birth; nationality; valid identification; and TRN are required for all account tier types.

The amount of money you can have in your MyCash account depends on the account tier type you select when setting up your account. There are 3 tiers, the higher the tier the more money you can have in your account and the more information you will be required to provide.

A valid proof of address may be any of the following:

  • Utility Bill (no more than 3 months old)
  • Current Statement from Financial Institution (no more than 3 Months old)
  • Adult children still living at home – Parents’ utility bill with Birth Certificate (Optional)
  • Spouse with utility bill in other spouse's name - utility bill with Marriage Certificate (Optional)
  • Lease or Rental Agreement or Landlord’s utility bill supported by rental agreement (Optional)
  • College Admission letter when in dorms (Optional)
  • Voter's Card/National ID (Optional)

The amount of money you can spend on your MyCash card is linked to the tier type of account you have (see question ‘How much money can I have in my MyCash account’).

Once you’ve completed the sign up process on the MyCash App, you can collect your card from any Sagicor Bank branch. You can use the App to find the most convenient location. Remember to bring along the ID and TRN (if ID is not a Driver’s License) you used to sign up – you’ll need to show this to the Sagicor Bank branch representative.

MyCash is powered by Sagicor Bank, which is regulated by the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ). BOJ requires Sagicor Bank to capture this information about its clients.

There is a one-time new card fee of J$200 + GCT (waived for an introductory period) and a monthly fee of J$100 + GCT to maintain the card. To see a full list of fees click here .

The amount of money you can spend or withdraw from your MyCash card is linked to the tier type of account you have (see question ‘How much money can I have in my MyCash account’).

Activation

Your card will be activated at the time of collection.

Yes, you can deactivate your card using the MyCash App at any time. If your card is lost or stolen and a replacement card is required, you should contact Sagicor Bank Customer Care at 888-SAGICOR (724-4267).

From the main menu, select “Information” and on that page you will have the option to turn on/off your card. Turn off your card to deactivate.

Safety and Security

Yes it is safe. It is important to never share your password with anyone.

Someone can only access your MyCash account with your phone if they know your password. It is important to never share your password with anyone.

You should deactivate your card immediately using the MyCash App. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged and a replacement card is required, you should contact Sagicor Bank Customer Care at 888-SAGICOR (724-4267). There is a replacement card fee. See list of fees here. Your lost or stolen card could still be used to make purchases, so please deactivate your card as soon as you realize it is missing.

You can reset your password by selecting the “forgot password” option on the main login screen when you launch the app. To change your password, you will need to provide your mobile number. A verification code will be send to your phone number from MyCash. You will then enter the (i) verification code (ii) TRN (iii) date of birth (iv) last 6 digits of your card serial number. Your card serial number is the ten digit number located below the bar code on the reverse of your card. You will then enter your new password.

From the main menu, select ‘Information’ and on that page you will have the option to set your card PIN. The PIN is used for ATM transaction only.

Change of Details

From the main menu, select ‘Information’ and on that page you will have the option to change your phone number. You will receive a verification code which you must enter to access your MyCash account.

Take your valid photo ID and acceptable supporting documents e.g. proof of new address, or marriage certificate to a Sagicor Bank Branch and speak to a representative.

Yes, you can add your name to your card by requesting a replacement card.

Fees and Charges

There will be a J$55 over the counter fee at Sagicor Bank branch.

General Questions

The ‘Credit Card’ option on screen should be chosen instead of the ‘Checking Account’ and ‘Savings Account’ options. MyCash is a prepaid Debit Card but to withdraw cash, after entering your PIN the Credit Card option is the only one that will progress the transaction. Select the credit card option on screen then choose cash advance to access your funds.

There is no interest charge on the card.

No, the account is a prepaid wallet not a standard banking account. Interest is not paid on the funds loaded.

No, you are not allowed to have multiple MyCash accounts. Each MyCash account is tied to your TRN and mobile phone number, so you can only have one account per person.

No, you can open a MyCash account with any active mobile phone number.

You need to be 18 years or older to open a MyCash account.

The MyCash app will work on devices with Android 4.1 and Apple (iOS) 8.1 or later. The MyCash app is available on both the Google Play and Apple App Stores.

Yes, you must have a MyCash account to send or receive money.

Yes, a credit history check is not required. It’s a prepaid card so you can only spend the funds loaded to the card.

You can check your balance using the MyCash App. Once you sign into your account, you’ll be able to see the available balance at the top of the screen. You can also check your balance at the Sagicor Bank ABM.

You can add funds to your card at any Sagicor Bank branch or you can load funds directly from your Sagicor Bank savings or chequing account using Sagicor Bank’s online banking platform e-Bank. There is an over the counter charge of J$55 for each cash load done at branch locations. Payments made through the e-Bank platform are free of charge. Select the ‘bill payment option’ and the Sagicor Bank account from which the payment is to be made.

Select Sagicor Credit Card JMD as the biller and enter the prepaid card number to which payment is to be made. Continue with onscreen directions to complete the process. When making your online payment, please remember that payments in excess of the maximum daily load or payments that will put your available balance in excess of the daily limit will be rejected.

The MyCash card can be used for purchases anywhere in the world that accepts MasterCard. You can use your card for online shopping, bill payments or everyday purchases.

No, however, you can view the details of your transactions in the App.

No, your transactions will only be displayed after the merchant has performed the settlement activities.  However, the App will show your correct available balance.

The MyCash card is valid for 3 years from the initial issue date of the card.

If the MyCash account has not been used for 120 days it will be deactivated. To use the service again after 120 days of no activity you can apply for a new card.

The MyCash Account is denominated in Jamaican Dollars. Money spent in foreign currency is converted and charged in JMD at the Bank’s exchange rate.

No. A third party cannot add money to your card. They can only do so by sending funds from their own card to your card.

Yes. Simply provide the additional information (e.g. proof of address) at any Sagicor Bank branch and the agent will validate this information and have your account upgraded.

The transaction will not be successful. You are not able to add more funds to the account than the amount allowed by your account.

Prism nor Digicel do not have access to the funds in your account.

No, you are unable to do this however this is a service that will be coming very soon.
